Bratislava to host heads of EU parliaments in May 2007
Bratislava, January 1, 2007 (BratislavaGuide.com) - Slovakia will host the Conference of heads of parliaments of member and candidate countries of the European Union in Bratislava from May 24th to May 27th.
44 chairpersons of elgislative assemblies will convene in the building of the National Council of the Slovak Republic at Namestie Alexandra Dubceka, near the Bratislava Castle. "We also invited representatives from associated countries, mainly the chairman form Ukraine, who will present vision of Ukraine on the way to EU," Chairman of Slovak National Council Pavol Paska was quoted as saying.
In addition to political issues the event will serve to present the Slovak Republic and Bratislava. "It is a breakthrough at absolute ly top European level, from which there will follow considerable benefits for the organising country," Paska added.
Organisers have begun preparing the event in August 2006, They have had to deal with a variety of issues, such as a lack of adequate accommodation in Bratislava.
