Bratislava Rises to 30th Spot in Mercer's Worldwide Cost of Living Survey
Bratislava, July 7, 2009 (Bratislava-City.sk) - Bratislava rose 15 spots in the 2009 Mercer Cost of Living Survey while other cities in the region plunged due to weaker currencies.
Slovakia adopted the euro as its currency in 2008 and the strong euro has increased the cost of living. In 2008 Bratislava held the 45th spot. Bratislava now ranks just behind Amsterdam and far ahead of other neighbouring central European capitals (Budapest, Prague, Warsaw).
Warsaw experienced the most dramatic plunge of all cities in the survey this year, falling to the 113th place from the 35th.

Hello, I'm writing from the United States - Washington DC. We are hosting a student from Slovakia this year. We want to make her stay a great one. What type of foods would a 16 year old girl like to have to remind her of Slovakia? Maybe some foods we can find here in the U.S. Thank you, Sergio
ADMIN: Let her enjoy Amercian food instead, she has enough of Slovak food back home.

[img1]The finals of the European Trophy - the Red Bulls Salute - will be played from December 13th to December 16th, 2012 in Vienna and Bratislava. It will be the first time the Red Bulls Salute, an invitational tournament that became the final of the European Trophy in 2010, will not be played in Salzburg.
Launched as the Red Bulls' invitation tournament and now the highlight of their international calendar, the event continues to break new ground and after seven years it will, for the first time, not be staged in Salzburg. The Red Bulls Salute 2012 is seeking new international challenges and this year will, in addition to Vienna - which was added as a venue last year - take place for the very first time in Bratislava (Slovakia).
Maros Krajci, General Manager of Slovan Bratislava Hockey Club says: "Bratislava is looking forward to welcoming the final tournament of the most prestigious ice hockey club competition in Europe. The city proved to be a fine host of the last year´s IIHF World Championship in its modernized 10,000 seat arena. Bratislava will get another great opportunity to foster its international image and attractiveness on the background of a first-class sporting event. For me personally, hosting Europe´s best hockey clubs will be a first-class gift for our enthusiastic fans at the end of the year in which we celebrate the 90th anniversary of playing ice hockey in our city."
