Skyeurope 2007 winter schedule reduces Bratislava, boosts Vienna as base
Bratislava, November 12, 2007 (Bratislava-City.sk) - Slovakia-based low cost airline Skyeurope shifted flights from its original Bratislava, Slovakia base to its new rising base at the much larger nearby Vienna, Austria airport in the Winter 2007 schedule.
The flight schedule valid from October 28, 2007 dropped a number of destinations serviced from Bratislava in the summer schedule, replacing several with flights out of Vienna Schwechat Airport. Four new destinations were added for Bratislava: London Luton (replacing flights to London Stansted), Prague, Birmingham and Cork.
Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefanik Airport transported some 839 thousand passengers in the first six months of 2007, including many commuting from Austria. Slovak government recently backtracked on plans to privatise the airport, triggering concerns over whether the state as the owner can develop the airport effectively in Slovak media.
A consortium including the Vienna airport was one of the bidders. The Vienna airport is some 60 km from Bratislava.

[img1]The finals of the European Trophy - the Red Bulls Salute - will be played from December 13th to December 16th, 2012 in Vienna and Bratislava. It will be the first time the Red Bulls Salute, an invitational tournament that became the final of the European Trophy in 2010, will not be played in Salzburg.
Launched as the Red Bulls' invitation tournament and now the highlight of their international calendar, the event continues to break new ground and after seven years it will, for the first time, not be staged in Salzburg. The Red Bulls Salute 2012 is seeking new international challenges and this year will, in addition to Vienna - which was added as a venue last year - take place for the very first time in Bratislava (Slovakia).
Maros Krajci, General Manager of Slovan Bratislava Hockey Club says: "Bratislava is looking forward to welcoming the final tournament of the most prestigious ice hockey club competition in Europe. The city proved to be a fine host of the last year´s IIHF World Championship in its modernized 10,000 seat arena. Bratislava will get another great opportunity to foster its international image and attractiveness on the background of a first-class sporting event. For me personally, hosting Europe´s best hockey clubs will be a first-class gift for our enthusiastic fans at the end of the year in which we celebrate the 90th anniversary of playing ice hockey in our city."
