Slovak National Theatre
The building was constructed in place of the original Estates Theatre during 1884 - 1886 on the basis of designs by Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer. Since 1920 it has been the home of the Slovak National Theatre. The most outstanding personalities of the world opera scene have performed here, names such as F. Saliapin, P. Mascagni, R. Strauss, G. Filip, M. Freni, P. Capuccili, R. Reznikov, and J. Obrazcova. The dancers M. Fonteyn, A. Alonso, V. Vasiliev and many others have also performed on its stage. At present there are resident opera and ballet companies, and it has nurtured many renowned personalities of the current opera scene such as Peter Dvorsky, Josef Kundlak, Jan Galla, Eva Jenisova, Edita Gruberova and Lucia Poppova, who perform at the world's top venues.

[img1]The finals of the European Trophy - the Red Bulls Salute - will be played from December 13th to December 16th, 2012 in Vienna and Bratislava. It will be the first time the Red Bulls Salute, an invitational tournament that became the final of the European Trophy in 2010, will not be played in Salzburg.
Launched as the Red Bulls' invitation tournament and now the highlight of their international calendar, the event continues to break new ground and after seven years it will, for the first time, not be staged in Salzburg. The Red Bulls Salute 2012 is seeking new international challenges and this year will, in addition to Vienna - which was added as a venue last year - take place for the very first time in Bratislava (Slovakia).
Maros Krajci, General Manager of Slovan Bratislava Hockey Club says: "Bratislava is looking forward to welcoming the final tournament of the most prestigious ice hockey club competition in Europe. The city proved to be a fine host of the last year´s IIHF World Championship in its modernized 10,000 seat arena. Bratislava will get another great opportunity to foster its international image and attractiveness on the background of a first-class sporting event. For me personally, hosting Europe´s best hockey clubs will be a first-class gift for our enthusiastic fans at the end of the year in which we celebrate the 90th anniversary of playing ice hockey in our city."
